What is Twitter?
Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows its users to send updates (otherwise known as tweets) which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length.
“A global community of friends and strangers answering one simple question: What are you doing? “
This new chirpy program which everyone initially called “a waste of time”, has captured enormous popularity and its usage has now taken different forms.
No one really thought such micro blogging would be big HIT. Just like everyone, it did not impress me too in the beginning, but now I am a big fan of it. Different people use it in different ways.
I use it privately not intending to share what I tweet but its still open, its basically to keep a track of my own Timeline of whatever things I do, The Schedules, Things done, Thoughts and Ideas ruminating,
Influential quotes I come across and perhaps titles of interesting Research articles I read.
Its been great to be with twitter and now a lot of innovations are taking place within the twitter community. A lot of Bots (automated programmed applications) have integrated within twitter, and allow twitter users to do various things. Some of the things that did catch my attention and interest were,

Twit-it! is an online app that allows you to send tweets to twitter about things you are looking on internet on that moment. The app works via a browser bookmarklet or a button you have embedded on your own blog or site.

ToAnswer is a Twitter mashup that will help you get your questions answered quickly – think Yahoo! Answers meets Twitter. The basic premise of ToAnswer is this: some users ask questions, the questions are indexed, and other users respond to questions that may know the answer to.
